Viewing and editing items
Opening an item
Go to the register and select the item from the table. Its detail view opens.

The header shows the item's name, a back control, Edit Asset Details (or Edit Policy Details, and so
on — it shortens to Edit on a narrow screen), and a delete icon. Items you have not finished carry a
(Draft) tag.
The three tabs
Asset Specifications
Named after the register you are in — Liability Specifications, Policy Specifications,
Business Specifications.
Everything you recorded, laid out in the same sections as the form: values, dates, references, providers,
policy details.
Presented as cards and labelled rows so it reads as a summary rather than a form.
Linked Registers

Everything this item is connected to — the mortgage against a property, the policy covering it, the trust
that owns it.
Select a linked item to jump straight to it. Swish offers a way back to where you came from, so you
can follow a chain and return.
To add a link, use the option on this tab, choose the register type, and pick the item.
To remove one, use the unlink control. Swish confirms first. Unlinking removes the connection only —
neither item is deleted.
Notes and Documents

Notes — free text for anything that does not fit a field. Who your broker is, why you chose this
cover, what the valuation was based on.
Documents — the files attached to this item. For each one:
| Action | Does |
|---|---|
| Open document | Views it in your browser |
| Download | Saves it to your device |
| Delete | Removes it, after confirming |
Documents are decrypted on your device as you open them. If you see "Unlock your data before opening or
downloading files.", refresh the page and enter your passphrase.
Editing
Select Edit Asset Details in the header. The same form you used to create the item opens, filled in.
Change what you need and select SAVE. The same rules apply as when creating:
- Required fields must be filled before saving
- Leaving with unsaved changes offers Save or Discard
- You can add or remove documents while editing
See Adding a register item for the form in detail.
Finishing a draft
Open the draft, edit it, complete what is missing, and save. The Draft tag disappears.
Deleting
Use the delete icon in the header, or ⋯ → Delete Asset from the register list.

Swish confirms that deleting the item also deletes its attached documents, ends independent access to
those documents, and cannot be undone.
Deleting an item is permanent. It also removes its links to other items — though the items on the
other end of those links are untouched.
Download any documents you need to keep before deleting the item. Its attached documents are deleted
with it.
If a bank account is linked to it, the account is not deleted or disconnected. It simply stops being
linked, and stays on your Accounts screen.
Consider whether you actually want to delete. If you sold the house, deleting it also deletes its
history; you may prefer to keep it and note the sale.
Keeping items current
Linked accounts update themselves. Anything with a bank account linked keeps its value current
automatically — this is the least-effort option and worth setting up. See
Linking accounts to registers.
Everything else needs a nudge occasionally. Property values, vehicle values, and unlinked investments
need you to update them.
A reasonable rhythm:
| Item | How often |
|---|---|
| Property | Yearly, or after a rating valuation |
| Vehicles | Yearly |
| Investments without a linked account | Every few months |
| Insurance | At each renewal — check the sum insured still makes sense |
| Liabilities without a linked account | Every few months |
Set a reminder on the item to prompt yourself — see
Reminders and notifications.
Common questions
Can I move an item to a different register? No. Delete it and recreate it in the right one.
Can I change the category or subcategory? Yes, by editing — but the form changes with it, so you may
need to re-enter some fields.
Where did my draft go? It is in the register list with a Draft tag. Try clearing any search or
category filter.
Can I get a deleted item back? No. Deletion is permanent.
Can I attach the same document to two items? Upload it to each. Documents belong to the item they are
attached to.
