Subscriptions

Budgeting Tools → Subscription

Subscriptions helps you review recurring payments and understand the ongoing
commitments you have confirmed.

The Subscriptions screen showing recurring payments and review states

What the page shows

The summary includes only confirmed subscriptions:

These are estimates based on detected payment history. Recurring charges are normalized to monthly and yearly equivalents; this
does not mean annual subscriptions are detected. Variable bills use their median observed payment as the typical
estimate and show the observed range on the card.

Reviewing recurring payments

Detected recurring payments start under Needs review. Detection is a hint,
not confirmation.

Selecting a card opens its detected payment history.

Expense categories and budgets

Each card shows the transaction's effective expense category, such as
Entertainment, Phone and internet, or Fitness. Subscription status does not
replace that category.

The underlying transactions are already included in budgets and Spend
Overview. Confirming a subscription does not add another expense or move it to
a generic subscription budget category.

Internal account transfers

Use Internal Account Transfers to include or hide recurring transfers
between your own accounts. These can resemble subscriptions, but moving money
between your accounts is not normally an expense.

Current detection limits

Swish analyses the last six calendar months, independently of the budgeting
reporting period. Candidates need at least three matching debits. Annual
subscription detection is not currently available. Variable bills are supported.
Within the recurring run used for monthly detection, payments normally fall
28–32 days apart; one interval may fall outside that range if it stays within
21–45 days. This limit applies to the selected run, not the entire six-month
history. An older interruption does not erase an established recent pattern.

Activity and missing payments

Confirmed subscriptions stay visible when matching payments stop. When a payment
is seven days overdue and the account's transaction data is current, the card
shows Possibly suspended. It stays in your estimated commitments, with the
possibly suspended contribution shown separately. Payments resuming automatically
restore Active activity.

If bank data is stale or the account is disconnected, Activity unavailable
appears instead of assuming payments have stopped. Choose Mark inactive to
exclude a subscription from the confirmed totals. It stays under Inactive
subscriptions
until you choose Mark active; this does not cancel payments.

Older confirmations without recoverable payment details remain visible as
Needs review. Their costs are explicitly shown as unavailable until enough
evidence is available; they are not silently treated as known zero-cost items.

Decision retention

Confirmation and ignore decisions are saved to the signed-in user's protected
subscription document, together with last-known commitment details for confirmed
subscriptions. New saves encrypt this document and require encryption to be
unlocked. They remain available after logout and can synchronize
to another browser or device when that device loads the user's protected data.

Common questions

Does Swish cancel a subscription? No. This page identifies and summarizes
recurring commitments; it does not contact the provider or stop a payment.

Why is something missing? Most candidates need at least three similar
payments within the last six months. Annual detection is currently disabled. You can still find
the payment in Transactions.

Why is a non-subscription listed? Some ordinary bills and transfers repeat
regularly. Choose Ignore going forward and restore it later if needed.

Does confirmation change my budget? No. The transactions are already
included in their expense categories. See Spend Overview
for category spending.
