Getting started

Signing in

Open Swish in your browser. You will see the welcome screen with a single Login button.

Select Login. Swish hands you to a secure sign-in page to enter your email address and password.

That sign-in page is separate from Swish on purpose. Your password is handled there and never passes
through Swish itself.

Once you have signed in, you are returned to Swish automatically.

Creating an account

There is no sign-up form inside Swish. Accounts are created on the same secure sign-in page you reach by
selecting Login — look for the option to register or create an account there.

If your Swish account is being set up for you by an adviser or your organisation, you will receive an
invitation with instructions instead.

Use the verification code from your invitation email, then choose and confirm your sign-in password.

You may also be asked to protect your account with two-factor authentication. Follow the on-screen
instructions to use an authenticator app or security key.

What happens next

After your first sign-in, Swish asks you to set up your encryption passphrase. This is the most
important step in setting up your account, and it is worth understanding before you choose one.

Read Your encryption passphrase next.

After that comes the first-time setup wizard. It collects your profile
details, then walks you through connecting a bank and adding your first records. Progress is saved after
each step so you can resume later. You can change your details afterward under
Your profile and settings.

Signing in on later visits

Every time you return to Swish you will:

  1. Sign in with your email and password.
  2. Enter your encryption passphrase.

Both steps are needed every session. The passphrase step is not a glitch — it is how Swish keeps your
data unreadable to everyone but you.

Signing out

Select your name or avatar at the top right, then Logout. You can also use Logout at the bottom
of the left-hand sidebar. Swish asks you to confirm.

Signing out clears your data from the browser. Next time you sign in, Swish loads it fresh from the
server and decrypts it with your passphrase.

On a shared or public computer, always sign out when you finish.
